KEEP SCROLLING FOR RECENT SHOW
NOTE:  We thank all of you who have sent us notes and talked with us, and kept us going!  Below are some of the comments over the years in which we performed.
*"You have more than exceeded our expectations this 2012 season.  April's "Driving Miss Daisy" was brilliant!  July's "Diary of Anne Frank" left us breathless.  Wonderful acting, great direction. set, lights and sound effects. The 'Liliana Moraru Santa Cruz Jewish Theatre' has left an amazing footprint among the theaters that fill our community.
Thank you for the quality we did not expect in a venue with such limitations.  It takes more than magic, it takes hard work and artistry."   ( from "a devoted fan")

"You opened 2011 on March 25.  It was a nasty night, but we went to see Neil Simon.  What fun!  Great job. Loved the Set. Thank you, thank you! (just call me addicted to live theater)"

“The level of professionalism at Santa Cruz Jewish Theatre is fantastic. Having been a theater-goer for many years, I am completely impressed by the quality produced by this new theater group.  I enjoyed their August production pf "Crossing Delancey"  and look forward with great anticipation to their next show.  They got me.  I'm hooked.”
Audience member, Sunday, August 29, 2010

"I reserved seats again, just to get a 'second dose' of "Crossing Delancey", produced by the Liliana Moraru Santa Cruz Jewish Theatre. It was even more delightful the second time around.  It was the best laugh I've had in a long time.  The actors were terrific.  The set was great.  The direction was wonderful.  I would be proud to work with this new theater company in their upcoming productions, and I even said as much to the director, Claire Cameron.  Bravo!"
Third row, center, Saturday

"The entire cast of "Crossing Delancey" stole my heart!  What a refreshing bit of  work by all.   Keep me on the mailing list."

"I became a charter member of The Liliana Moraru Santa Cruz Jewish Theatre at their August show on Saturday night, and got a nice tote bag for my membership.  The tote will go to my daughter.  I just want to be on this theater's mailing list.  This was one really enjoyable experience."

"I saw both productions of this show, in June and in August.  Each had a completely different feel.  I got a lot more from the August show, and the actors were even more polished in the second one than in the first. That was my reaction.  The first one was wonderful, but the August show had more heart.   I went on Saturday and brought a friend back with me on Sunday.  The audience was laughing the entire time."

"I have known Ali Eppy for years, but  did not recognize her in this show.  I even turned to my friend and asked which one was Ali (Bubbe).  What a transformation!"

"I loved the lady with the snort."

"I enjoyed this show immensely. It was so professional!  Excellent use of this space. So glad that the actual stage was not used.  Personally, I would love to see a contemporary Jewish drama, like "Hester Street" --  MAZEL TOV!"

"I liked Scott Kravitz's SAM, even better than the movie's Paul Riegert."

"Thank you for the wonderful performance of "Crossing Delancey" in August.  Please get me on your mailing list - Let me know about new productions."

"Who is the actor who made me feel I was in the Garden Of Eden watching Eve being tempted to bite that apple!"

"I'm sorry my note is so late in coming to you, but I really have to say that I was so taken in by what was happening onstage, that  I got lost in the story!  How magical!  That doesn't happen very often for me and I am one of those avid theater people.  I go to every play I can get to. Who were those darling women, Izzy and Bubbe!  They reminded me so much of the times I had with my grandmother in New York!  Thank you for doing this.  What a great job. Please keep me on your mailing list.  I'm looking forward to your next show."

"Please put me on the mailing list.  When is the next show?  I was so impressed by what I saw in August, and at the Live Oak Grange .  I have been there many times before, but never realized ayone could present me with the wonder of a live stage production in that huge place. You all did such a great job in making the grange into a real theater.  The show was delicious.  I can't wait to see what you do next!"

"..... and  please accept this small contribution.  I would love to see you succeed at this awesome project.  What are you planning next?"

"I loved "Crossing Delancey". What shows will you do next?  Can't wait to see them. (Possibly try-out?)"

"Sending you a check to keep the theatre going. We knew Liliana well, and miss her as you do. What a wonderful way to pay homage to a great lady."

"Happy Holidays to all of you.  We received the lovely holiday card from your theater company. I like the Helen Keller quote.  If things go well with our business we will send another contribution to you.  I  know this is a struggle for a new group, but you are simply amazing. We are looking forward to the spring show. Please keep us notified."

" .... this is something I'd hoped to see, but never thought I would.  Because we now live in Santa  Cruz after coming from Brooklyn, we felt a loss of our familiar haunts, theater being one of them. It is so wonderful to find that a Jewish Theater is close by. Please put us on your mailing list, and let us know if we can help in any way ...  Shalom to you, and blessings with your new project.   ......   as we are enclosing a small contribution toward the expenses of keeping this up and going."

SPRING, 2011 :

"I understand that your spring production is a Neil Simon classic.  Word has it that you're considering "Last of the Red Hot Lovers".  That's one of my favorite Simon shows.  Please call me and let me know the exact dates, and if that's the show you will be doing.  I 'd be bringing at least 12-15 friends.  We loved what you did last year   .....    "

"Oh my gosh.  You really are doing one of my favorite plays!  I saw a poster the other day.  If I make early reservations can I get one of those parlor seats up front?  Please let me know if I can help you in some way.  I would love to be part of your group .... "

..."I love Neil Simon.  This was such a fun show.  My friends will be coming on April 8.  Thanks for bringing Neil Simon back to us.  I am looking forward to July!"

"Bravo to all of you. I will certainly 'spread the word'.  I feel such pride in knowing we now have a Jewish Theatre right here where I live."

"Last Sunday afternoon we dropped in at the last minute and I haven't laughed as much in a long time.  I think we made a good choice in deciding to go to your theater.  I've talked with some of my friends and I'm coming back with them on April 9th.  Will be calling for reservations.  If you are full on the 9th, give us the next best date available.  Thanks from a lover of plays."

" ...This was wonderful!  You did an amazing job.  The show was so tight.  The direction was terrific and all the actors were super.  You did a lot of hard work with this... "

"Claire:  we really enjoyed the play:  good job!  The direction was crisp, the pacing good and the acting of all the majors was top-drawer!  Also, I loved the set ... Kudos!!!!!"

"What a feat you have taken on!  I doff my hat to you.  All of you far exceeded our expectations!  Bravo for your courage and dedication.  We have been thrilled with all the laughter you've brought to us as well as exceptional direction and performances .. "

" ...  all I can say is  MORE, MORE, MORE! ... "

JULY, 2011
" ... you did it again!  We are in love with your theater.  "I ought to be in pictures", your latest Neil Simon show is absolutely incredible.  Where did you find that wonderful cast?  We came in last Saturday. We're coming back this week on Sunday with friends.  Please find space for us.  I made reservations, but only left them on your phone message.  Thank you Claire for having such perseverance."

"I remember Liliana.  She was such a sweet, unassuming and talented lady.  What a tribute the theater is to her memory. Thank Scotty K. for his contribution as the director on this summer show.  I know it must have been a lot of hard work for everyone involved."

"Claire, you are really dedicated to this, and it shows. Every time!  We are loving it.  And thanks for the front row seats."

"Kudos to all of you for a great job in I Ought To Be In Pictures.  It was thoroughly enjoyable.  An evening well spent.  Bravo to the new Jewish Theatre   ........."

"When can I work on costumes?"

"Congrats on another grand bit of theater."

OCTOBER, 2011  *****
"Touching nostalgic journey through historic period.  This piece unfolds in a variety of vignettes rather than jerking us through dramatic situations. Unusual..."

"Ali Eppy's 1940s 'Mom" -very convincing.  Brought me to tears."
"How in the world did you manage to create such a wonderful ensemble from such a complicated script!"
"It's there, Claire.  A little refining with a few rough spots, but it's ready!  This play should be seen in the larger theaters!"

"I'VE BEEN BACK TWICE ALREADY, AND WILL DEFINITELY BE IN THE AUDIENCE FOR THE LAST WEEKEND.  THIS PRODUCTION IS NOTEWORTHY.
I HOPE IT DOES WELL ON A LARGER SCALE.  IT DESERVES TO BE SEEN.
THIS IS POWERFUL THEATER."

"I'M A FAN OF ALI EPPY, HAVE SEEN ALL HER SHOWS.  SHE MAKES ME CRY IN THIS ONE.  I CAN'T STOP THE TEARS.  SO REAL.  SO MEANINGFUL."

"BRAVO FOR SCOTT KRAVITZ!  TAKES GUTS AND TALENT TO BRING SUCH LIFE TO HIS COMPLEX CHARACTER ... PRIMO PERFORMANCE, SCOTT."

"THIS SHOW GOT TO ME.  WOW.  I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW THE REAL MANNY.  I ESPECIALLY APPRECIATED THE COPIES OF NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS ABOUT THAT MAN.  THAT BROUGHT IT ALL HOME."

"THE LAST LINES IN THIS PLAY WERE POWERFUL.  BUT I WOULD SAY THAT THE ENTIRE SHOW WAS POWERFUL!  WHAT A DIFFERENT APPROACH.  APPLAUSE.  APPLAUSE."

"It plays a whole lot better than it reads!  I was in on the first re-writes in 2007, and I haven't seen it since then. The script was so much better, and the acting was absolutely wonderful.  Your cast made me believe every word, and I cried.  It really got to me. GREAT SHOW. Congrats to all of you."
                                         ***********************

"Happy Hanukah, Santa Cruz Jewish Theatre.  Enclosed is a small check to help you out.  We heard that you're being included under an umbrella from an L.A. theater.  How wonderful not to do all that fuss over paper work.  Now any donations will be tax deductible.  What a terrific way to start a new year.  Congratulations on all that you have achieved in a short time.  We love the plays.  Keep us on the mailing list  ...     "

... "such a little woman to have all that weight on your shoulders!  Hope you get more help as time goes on."  (AND TO THIS COMMENT I SAY: AMEN!  I WOULD LIKE THAT. TOO !!!)

" ... so what's up next? Got your DVD of the last show.  I think you need a lighting person to look at that low ceiling.  Aside from that, I think it went off quite well.  You do have a way of working your magic.  I still remember doing that with you.
And I miss you, too."
2012
" ......   DRIVING MISS DAISY was a coup.  We were really impressed.  Loved the three actors, the set, great costumes. We are looking forward to the next show."

"My husband and I have been coming to your productions since the beginning.
We were stunned by your summer show.  Never did we think THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK could be done so well at the Grange Hall, or so professionally.  All your actors were amazing. The lighting was so much better, the set touched us. You made it all work. We had a hard time moving out of our seats at the end.
This was such a moving and powerful performance.  Your direction is so unique. Thank you for all your hard work."

"We loved "The Diary of Anne Frank".  My wife cried and that means we're coming back.  Keep us on your list of people to notify. Good, good show, well-done , great acting, exceptional moments.  I noticed that many of the audience could not move out of their seats when the show was over.  Many of them were in tears.  You have brought something rather remarkable to the Santa Cruz theater community."

2013
"Thank you, Claire, for creating this treat in our community.  You will be missed. Attended the opening of "Fiddler On The Roof" and was extremely delighted.  Bravo for your dedication and your strength.  Enjoy North Carolina ..."
